Adulting can be hard. Relationships can be hard. Being your authentic self can be hard. For all these reasons and many more, I work with a wide range of clients and presenting issues.
My name is Dan & I offer individual & partner therapy from my practice rooms in Bricket Wood, St. Albans as well online & telephone counselling.
My aim is to provide the right therapy for your specific needs in a safe space where you can explore without judgement or prejudice. My practice is pluralistic which means I adapt our sessions to best suit you, & utilise a combination of philosophies including humanistic, CBT, psychodynamic and existentialism to help you achieve your therapy goals.
Sex & relationships are fundamental to what it means to be human. I am a COSRT accredited psychosexual & relationship therapist specifically trained to help you with these important areas.
How we experience & cope with our lives is impacted by a combination of biological, psychological & social factors. Together at St Albans Therapy we can explore these & come up with a plan to make the changes you want.
I work with both trainee & qualified supervisees, supporting your practice & personal & professional growth. I offer 1-2-1 supervision as well as group supervision for up to 3 people.

He has been incredibly kind, patient, and supportive throughout our sessions. From the very beginning, he created a space where I felt comfortable, listened to, and never judged. His calm, compassionate approach and professionalism have made a real difference, and I've come away with a much more positive outlook. I'm genuinely grateful for his guidance and support. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone looking for a caring and highly skilled counsellor. Thank you for everything you've done—it has made a lasting difference.Posted on Google Deborah Speak7 July 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From our very first session, Dan made me feel incredibly at ease and gave me the time and space to open up about the areas of my life where I needed support. Dan has a natural approachable, supportive manner and he made it easy for me to talk openly, and without judgment. I really valued our sessions and having a knowledgeable, personable expert to help me work through things. Thanks to Dan's guidance, I reached a point where I no longer felt I needed regular sessions, but I also know I could always return if I ever needed support again. I would recommend Dan to anyone looking for a compassionate and highly effective therapist in a heartbeat.Posted on Google Luce Carrett3 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My partner and I have been seeing Daniel for over a year and can wholeheartedly say that our relationship would not be as strong as it is now without our sessions with him. We have learned how to effectively communicate, understand each other’s attachment styles and how our childhoods have shaped us, and we now easily talk about things I couldn’t imagine us talking about over a year ago. Our relationship is honestly miles away from when we first started with Daniel. He has an extremely calm presence, is very easy to open up to, and delivers his sessions with no judgement or opinion - just care, professionalism and knowledge. A session with Daniel isn’t just a space to be heard, but somewhere you can be challenged and learn - there is always a psychology lesson baked into each session, and we come away understanding each other’s thought processes and behaviour a little more every time. If you are looking for a therapist to not just listen and advise, but also help you understand why relationships and human interactions are the way they are, I would 100% recommend Daniel.Posted on Google Esayka Music1 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My partner and I have been seeing Daniel for over a year now, and we can’t recommend him highly enough. What sets him apart is that he doesn’t just listen — he actively equips you with tools and frameworks to tackle your own challenges between sessions. He has a great way of making complex ideas easy to grasp, often using a whiteboard to visually explain everything from attachment and relationship styles to stress management techniques. It sounds simple, but it makes a real difference in how much you actually take away from a session. Daniel has a naturally soft and gentle manner that makes you feel completely at ease, but he’s equally able to be firm when it counts — gently pushing you to reflect honestly on your emotions and thought patterns in a way that feels constructive rather than confrontational. That balance is hard to find, and it’s what keeps us coming back.Posted on Google Paul Albert27 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend Dan highly enough. I've had various therapists over the years and probably made more progress and had new awareness with him than all the others combined. I always found him accepting, patient, understanding and I was a big fan of his whiteboard. He used it from time to time to demonstrate and explain things that were really useful. I felt totally comfortable and safe with him which enabled me to be open and vulnerable which hasn't always been the case. When I was looking for a therapist he was happy to have a Zoom call so I could 'meet' him first which helped me decide he was the right person for me. I appreciate the right therapist is a very personal thing but overall it was a really positive experience and I'm really grateful for the time we had.Posted on Google Clive Garsin26 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dan was wonderful in helping me through a tough period. He’s a great listener, with a very calm demeanour. I highly recommend Dan for his professionalism, expertise and reassuring advice. I would advise anyone, especially those who don’t think they need some therapy, to give Dan a call.Posted on Google Dominique Mcb18 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been seeing Dan for over two years now. I started seeing him for couples therapy with my partner and it honestly saved our relationship and brought us closer. I continued to see Dan alone after we finished couples therapy. I have BPD, MDD and suffer from anxiety among other things. Since seeing Dan my quality of life has improved greatly, not only do I get support during sessions, I know i can call him for support on my darkest days if I can’t see a way out. He breaks my emotions down on a psychological level enabling me to understand them differently. I have learnt so much about myself from my sessions with Daniel and I can only speak highly of him and his professionalism, knowledge and experience. I feel safe in my sessions and know my best interest are always being considered. Therapy with Daniel has changed my relationship for the better and changed my life, I don’t think I’d be where I am and who I am today without his sessions, support and guidance. I would highly recommend Daniel to anyone especially if you have complex disorders or any level of trauma. I continue to have regular therapy sessions with him and will continue for many years to come. It's inevitable you'll get into some rough spots as a person, so you'll need a good therapist. Luckily, we found a great one. Dan helps so much with giving tools needed to navigate life's hard moments, and for us in particular, it made our relationship shine again. He is always present, respectful, and really allows what exists to exist, along with some gentle guidance.Posted on Google Charlotte Hazell22 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
